Something I should have realised ages ago..

Yo!

(Note to self: Don't start singing Yo Griz.)

So recently not a lot of Owl City or Adam Young news has been going around, I suppose. And if anything has there was no solid evidence of the news. Adam is beginning to start tweeting random stuff again like 'Gunther does interior design', but things have been pretty quiet on the social media fronts too. Well, other than Adam intruding into people's chats on instagram and posting pictures on them, but that was a couple weeks back now.

Now, there is a score every month but now the outcome of that is beginning to come predictable, that they are always to the best of quality, yes. But, I don't know about you (don't start singing Taylor Swift) but things are seeming to become...boring?

Am I allowed to say that?

But in this time of barren(ess) from Mr Young, I have genuinely realised the best thing about being a Hootowl. Yes, it's true that being Hootowl makes you feel closer to Adam himself and you get cool little updates of how he's going on. But the best thing about being a Hootowl isn't even Adam at all. The best thing is that one man with his music can bring thousands of people together. I have met so many friends being part of the fandom, and with you guys I feel like we're all in one little world. I feel a sense of 'togetherness' with Hootowls. Even if we disagree with each other on something, it doesn't matter. We don't need Adam to keep us entertained all of the time, because we tell each other stories, and paint each other pictures.

And because I'm not very good at doing either of these things, well I guess my whole role in this Hootowl community is to be myself, do what I do best and tell bad jokes and be so socially awkward that literally everyone thinks "Why is she running this blog?"

I find it so cool how everyone brings the best out of everyone here. There are minimal arguments. We all support each other when we need each other. I found that out recently, maybe two or three weeks ago. I had so many friends who tried to work through the problem with me.

It's so comforting to know you're all reading this and all being fabulous human beings and this is why I am so proud to be a Hootowl :)

Love you all (as always)

  1. Amen! I love that you posted this. Being in a fandom isn't just about the artist or show or whatever; it's also about people connecting and bonding over things they have in common and that they like. And maybe even bond over things that aren't fandom related as well. That's what I like about being in a fandom; watching people become friends through things that they enjoy :)

    1. Exactly. It really is the best thing about this fandom. We are brought together by our fabulousness!

  2. Much agreed, I love this blog (and your jokes) and I do not think "why is she running this blog." Thank you for connecting hoot owls and expressing the real meaning of fandoms. I also agree things are pretty calm and... "boring" *gasp*. But I like to think this is just the calm before the storm (of music production or midlife crisis for Adam XD I don't think so though.) Thank you again

    1. Thank you for the kind words! I do enjoy running the blog, and it's good to know that people don't find me completely idiotic. :)

  3. Yeah, Adam's scores are kinda boring. The only topic I was really interested in was the last score, and I'm not too interested in the upcoming one-Everest never appealed to me. Also, I saw that Adam liked your tweets! That must have been exciting. cx

    1. I have to disagree with you there. I don't think his scores are boring, I think they are incredibly dreamy, but just predictable. Also, yes Adam has liked 6 of my tweets recently. I nearly die every time he does :3

    1. I'm a big fan of Yo Griz actually. It's not at Coca-Cola. It's at Burger Time!
